Thanksgiving fun

Ever since I became a student at MSU, my poor uncle Roger has been tortured because he is a HUGE Michigan fan!

He has taken it in stride because obviously his favorite niece (biased opinion, I know) is more important that a silly school! They managed to get my dad back by at Thanksgiving with a strategic coffee move!
I got this picture on my phone and had a good laugh! We wish we could have been with family for the holiday but a play-by-play is the next best option!

Mikel with his two deer (and conflicting Idaho support-- an ISU sweatshirt and a BSU hat)...
This is "The Buck Pole". A place in town where people show off the deer they have shot...

 All strapped on the car...
The boys and their sweet treasure...
Not my style but a good trip for the boys!

happy hunter

Mikel was very happy that he was able to go hunting this year and even happier that he got something. This is the picture he sent me from his phone so there will be more to come!

I love free

I love free things and I love sports so when were were were able to get free tickets to the MSU hockey game against Ohio State on Friday, we were super excited!

Our local bank was giving out a bunch of free tickets to the hockey game so Mikel and I were definitely in line! Not only did we get tickets we got sweet tickets! One of our friends from Idaho who goes to medical school at MSU was able to go with us as well.

We were about 4 rows back and got seat backs instead of benches so it was great!

This is the teams lining up for the national anthem and introductions..
And these are the three little kids who got to stand there with them-- so cute!!

The facility had over 6,000 people in it Friday night for a very exciting game!

The team lost 4-3 in overtime but it was a lot of fun!

Idaho potatoes

Small world-- we were at 5 Guys Burger and Fries the other day after a football game and saw this:
What a small world!! Now I don't know the Brown's or whoever owns Brown Farm in Rexburg, ID but it's close enough to Pocatello to feel somehow connected!

Either way, the burgers were delicious!

Christmas Cards!

I love Christmas! I love everything about it and cannot wait to break out the decorations and music and everything that goes with it! I love decorating the tree every year because opening up the box of ornaments is like opening up a box of memories. Some of the older ornaments reflect family memories from years gone by; I remember my mom carefully unwrapping each of the ornaments and dad and Matt orchestrating the decorating of the tree (kind of like driving directions, I'm not given much say-- probably justifiably so). The newer ornaments remind me of recent memories for Mikel and me and all of our adventures together.

One of the other great things about Christmas time and the holiday season is getting cards in the mail. For about a month I remember the excitement of checking the mail to see what Christmas cards we got and the ones with pictures were always the most exciting. Now that we have our own little family, I love sending out our own cards. Unfortunately, on a student's budget we have to find something affordable and that's when I stumbled across the Shutterfly website: http://www.shutterfly.com/cards-stationery/christmas-cards

I've already been playing around with the options and am considering the pattern at THIS LINK or THIS ONE because I love to be able to put in lots of pictures!

If Christmas cards aren't you're thing they also have New Years cards: http://www.shutterfly.com/cards-stationery/new-years-cards/new-years-cards

Or even wall calendars that I love: http://www.shutterfly.com/calendars/wall-calendars

You can always check out this promotion as well if you have a blog: http://blog.shutterfly.com/5358/holiday2010-blog-submission-form/

Such a great deal and so easy! I can't wait to get my cards and send them out to family and friends so we can keep in touch from afar!

flies

So here are some of the flies Mikel has been making...

I don't know much about them but if I was a fish, I would want to eat them!

On a side note, he took all of these with the camera on his new phone-- I'm impressed!

Providence, RI

One afternoon, after the presentation, I had a little time to walk around Providence and see a bit of the city. Flying in there were sooo many beautiful trees with the color changing!

Downtown Providence had the typical big buildings but also some cool memorials and a river.

I also had time to see Brown University which had beautiful old buildings and a cool view from the roof! We walked into the recreation facility randomly and met a really nice guy that told us where to get the best view in town....

This was the top of the facility where you could see all of their athletic fields and a lot of town. So pretty!!!
A good trip but nice to be home now!
