steelhead fishing

This weekend Mikel went steelhead fishing in Shoup, ID with Lucas and Lucas' neighbor. He was prepared for a cold weekend but was lucky enough to have beautiful weather (especially for the end of October)!

It was a slow weekend for fishing but it was great to get away!

weekly happenings

A couple pictures from our busy week:
a dark picture but there were a bunch of deer in a field as we were leaving a team dinner

beautiful tree on the golf course

this board usually has the upcoming games but there's too much to list so it just says busy
It's going to be a couple crazy weeks as the volleyball season finishes up. We have three more regular season games at home and then the conference tournament November 11-12 in Helena. I can't believe our first is season almost over!

loooong weekend

This weekend I spent a looong weekend on the road with the team. We played at Lewis-Clark State in Lewiston, ID on Thursday and the Westminster College in Salt Lake City on Saturday. That means lots of movies, sleeping, and crafts on the 10 hour bus ride in between.

Mikel didn't travel with us this time because our friends were getting married in Pocatello so we split forces.

Our first night we stayed in Moscow, ID and I got a suite (with a complimentary fruit basket)...
addressed to Coach Lisa Griffiths.... I'm kind of a big deal

there were as many TVs in this room as there are in my house

the two bathrooms were overkill but the bed was comfortable
I got to see Jenny (the maid of honor from our wedding) in Moscow since she lives right down the road in Pullman. It was great to have time to catch up!

From there we traveled down to Lewiston.

After our match in Salt Lake, we all went to the Jason Aldean concert at the Maverik Center in Salt Lake. The team did the research and bought their own tickets and it was so much fun! Thompson Square and Chris Young opened and the whole thing was great!

Overall it was a great weekend and besides Jenny, I also got to see Lois (my roommate from Pocatello) in Salt Lake and Marisa (Mikel's sister) before the concert. My team didn't know I had that many friends!

Mikel said the wedding was beautiful but he doesn't quite take as many pictures as I do so I'll have to take his word for it!

RIP Shload

Last week we said goodbye to a good friend. Shload the Pygmy Toad died.

I bought Shload during my sophomore year at Idaho State and he has lived seven wonderful years and outlived many fish friends (they tend not to be as hearty as the frog in my expert experience) and outlasted many roommates. Luckily, Mikel is the one who found him after he died and buried him in a little Shload grave in our backyard. There were tears (mine) and his bowl is still waiting to be cleaned.

I know it's shocking but we don't have a ton of pictures of Shload but these are the ones I have...

he was a simple frog but a real gem of a pet
Shload survived two trips across the country and multiple dead fish friends but we loved the little guy. RIP Shload, you will be missed.

UMW Rodeo

Sunday afternoon the UMW rodeo team had a rodeo at home. They compete at the fairgrounds that are about two blocks from our house and I had never been to a rodeo so we decided to check it out.

everyone had cowboy hats, including this adorable little baby

Two videos, the first is breakaway roping and the second is bull riding.

I asked so many stupid questions in the couple hours I was there but it was a lot of fun. I also met the rodeo coach for UMW who I've heard is a VERY good person to have on your side!

A great weekend of Montana Western athletics!

UMW homecoming

This weekend was homecoming in Dillon for both the high school and Montana Western. The high school team played on Friday night and the college played Saturday afternoon. Because we played Montana Tech earlier in the week, we had the weekend off from volleyball.

This allowed us to check out the football team and cheer for them as they played Montana Tech

The practice field outside the stadium. You can see the Bulldogs on one side and Beavers on the other for the college and high school teams.
Mikel could only come to the first quarter because he had to go to work at the golf course. When I came back before half time, I headed up into the media booth to do an interview about our first conference win against Tech.
this is the sketchy ladder I had to climb up to get to the booth

Final score 55-16! It was a good weekend to be a Bulldog!
These are two FANTASTIC videos from the weekend. First is a guy dancing at the game...
Next is drunk people singing about their "Bulldog spirit"...
